Pastor Darryl Scarbrough
Darryl A. Scarbrough is the Senior Pastor of BOSS Church in Sacramento, CA. Darryl previously served as the Teaching Pastor and Director of Discipleship for the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. He is an anointed preacher of God’s Word, with a specific call to help individuals realize and maximize their God-given purpose.
Pastor Darryl’s ministry has not only impacted believers, but extends beyond the four walls of the Church to transform the lives of people in prisons, detention centers, hospitals, and schools in cities across the nation and as far away as Sweden and South Africa. His personal testimony of rebellion and running from God challenges people to overcome life’s struggles, while his preaching ministry empowers them to serve God’s call with boldness and authority. He and his wife, Shanicka, live in Sacramento, CA.
BOSS is a place where all people can encounter God, faith and community in an authentic, relevant and uplifting environment. The ministries of BOSS are dedicated to serving a variety of needs that exist in our community while building meaningful relationships with others on their journey to wholeness. You will discover incredible people, inspiration and support for your dream, along with valuable resources and information. No matter where you are in life, at BOSS there is a ministry for you.
The Adult Discipleship Ministries at BOSS Church exist to disciple and support men and women on their journey to becoming Holy Spirit-led followers of Jesus Christ. We encourage men and women at BOSS to strengthen their relationships with God and others through gender-specific connection events and growth opportunities, community groups and in-depth Bible studies and serving opportunities. The ministry is centered around three focal points: REACH the lost, TEACH believers and RELEASE people to serve the church and community.
BOSS Youth exists to connect teenagers to God, to each other, and to adults who are passionate about helping teens grow closer to God and navigate through life. We’ve got lots of opportunities to connect: weekly services, life groups, one-time events, camps and more! At BOSS Youth, teens will make friends, be encouraged, have fun and grow closer to Jesus.
Investing in our children is investing in our future. For this reason, we offer creative, age-appropriate bible lessons and activities. From infancy, where our caring volunteers teach the babies what a bible is; to sixth grade where our preteens learn how to walk the life of a Christian while mentoring their younger counterparts. We continually challenge our young people to develop a more intimate relationship with God through reading their bibles, journaling and spending quiet time with Him
At BOSS, we believe that one of the greatest avenues for spiritual transformation is in the context of a community group. Community Groups offer a place where you can experience acceptance and support, develop real relationships, grow spiritually, discover your God-given purpose and ignite a greater passion for Jesus Christ.
Our goal is to connect EVERY person who calls BOSS home with a safe community group environment where they can commit to the adventure of following Jesus Christ. We are excited about what is happening in this ministry and hope that you will make joining a community group a priority in your spiritual growth.
Community Groups are the heartbeat of BOSS and are where discipleship growth and pastoral care takes place! Because we believe that everyone needs fellowship and support we encourage you to connect with a Community Group in your area.
Compassion and Outreach
Thousands of families are in the midst of economic crisis, homelessness and abandonment. Human trafficking, gang-related violence and unsafe neighborhoods are prevalent. It’s time we turn our faith into action!
Parenting! It’s one of the most important responsibilities a person can have in life and one in which we are often the least trained.
Come learn practical ways to be the parent God has intended you to be. If you plan on dedicating your child, this class is required. Your child needs Godly parents, not more stuff!

Baptism is an amazing time for new believers to declare that they now belong to Jesus.
You are not being baptized into the BOSS Church body but into the Body of Christ universal. Baptism does not save the believer but is instead an outward symbolic representation of the inward work of grace through faith.

BOSS is not a traditional church. We do not do what a traditional church does. We do not think the way a traditional church does. We will color “outside the lines” to reach more people for Christ.
statement of faith
WE BELIEVE in one GOD: We believe in God who is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity. (Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matt. 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Cor. 13:14)
WE BELIEVE that JESUS CHRIST is the Son of God: He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Cor. 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13)
DIVERSITY: Diversity is important to BOSS because every person is important to GOD and we want the BOSS Church family to reflect our community and the world.
EVANGELISM: At BOSS, we evangelize because, as others led us to Christ, we want to share that love forward with those who don’t yet know Him… one beggar showing another where to find bread.
DISCIPLESHIP: At BOSS, we help believers live life together, encouraging each other to grow closer to Jesus.
