About Us

BOSS is not a traditional church. We do not do what a traditional church does. We do not think the way a traditional church does. We will color “outside the lines” to reach more people for Christ.

We are an urban church—progressive in our thinking and how we minister, but firmly grounded in the Bible.

We love God and we love people.

We are committed to our city. We are bold and intentional about serving — going where other churches may not care to go.

We look for ways to integrate into our community by partnering with civic and community organizations and law enforcement.

We hope you will find us to be the real deal—warm, friendly, authentic, fun, and engaging. Our church will not only help you find your purpose and a place to connect and grow, but we also hope to encourage you to share God’s love and compassion through our outreaches and community partnerships.

CORE VALUES

PRAYER

At BOSS, we pray to follow Jesus’ example and because we desire a consistent and healthy relationship with God.

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.” —Psalm 145:18-19

EVANGELISM

At BOSS, we evangelize because, as others led us to Christ, we want to share that love forward with those who don’t yet know Him… one beggar showing another where to find bread.

“You are the light of the world..let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” —Matthew 5:14-16

SERVICE

At BOSS, we serve because Jesus served. All people need help; humanity is moved more by service and love than words.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45

WORSHIP

At BOSS, we have made it a mission to create a safe and free space for all to express worship to God in whatever way they feel. Our primary and unified focus is making sure God is glorified, magnified, satisfied and lifted high. He deserves every ounce of us, and we love to honor him with our praise and worship.

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” -John 4:23-24

DISCIPLESHIP

At BOSS, we help believers live life together, encouraging each other to grow closer to Jesus.

“Jesus said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20

DIVERSITY

Diversity is important to BOSS because every person is important to GOD and we want the BOSS Church family to reflect our community and the world.

“In Christ Jesus, you are all children of the faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ are clothed in Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” —Galatians 3:26-28

 STATEMENT OF FAITH

WE BELIEVE in one GOD: We believe in God who is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity. (Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matt. 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Cor. 13:14)

WE BELIEVE that JESUS CHRIST is the Son of God: He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Cor. 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13)

WE BELIEVE that the HOLY SPIRIT is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God: He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)

WE BELIEVE the ENTIRE BIBLE is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error, and is the final authority of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6, Proverbs 30:5)

WE BELIEVE that MANKIND was created in the IMAGE of GOD to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own efforts. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)

WE BELIEVE that the BLOOD of JESUS, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 6:23; Eph. 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:2; Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

WE BELIEVE the CHURCH is the BODY of CHRIST, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and making Him known to a lost world. (Ephesians 4:11-17; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27)
